Some of our readers in Texas may have heard about a tragic motor vehicle accident that occurred recently, in San Antonio. According to the reports, a 17-year-old suspected drunk driver slammed into another vehicle that had four people in it, including a police officer. Three of those victims died in the crash, while the other survived and was, reportedly, in stable condition in the aftermath of the collision.
The reports indicate that the crash occurred during the middle of the night – actually the early morning hours of September 26, about 1:30am. The vehicle with the police officer and three others reportedly crossed into an intersection with a green light – they had the right-of-way. However, that was when a vehicle driven by the 17-year-old suspect sped into the same intersection and slammed into the victims’ vehicle. The suspect is now facing multiple criminal charges, according to the reports.
The dangers of drunk driving
This latest tragedy is another in decades of examples of the dangers of drunk driving. Anyone who gets behind the wheel of a vehicle while intoxicated is putting themselves and everyone else on the roads at risk. In the worst-case scenarios, people can die in a drunk driving accident. But, in many others, people might also suffer serious and potentially life-changing injuries.
