On the morning of Feb. 25, two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision that claimed the life of one driver. The other driver was left uninjured. The accident occurred when a semi-truck heading west struck an eastbound car on Highway 11, approximately seven miles east of Winnsboro. The Department of Public Safety reported that crash happened as the semi-truck rounded a curve on the highway and crossed over into the eastbound lane.
The 42-year-old woman driving the car was killed in the accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body was taken to the Batey Funeral Home in Winnsboro following the incident. The driver of the semi-truck, a 56-year-old male of Euless, sustained no injuries from the collision, according to reports. Officials with the Department of Public Safety did not say that road conditions contributed to the accident.
