Texas rear-end collision injured 4

On the morning of Oct. 9, according to a Texas DPS press release, the 43-year-old driver of a Cadillac stopped at a flagman in a construction zone on Highway 277 between Duff Road and Christoval, and the 54-year-old driver of a Volkswagen crashed into the back of his car. The Cadillac spun counterclockwise and into a ditch on the west side of the road, and the Volkswagen spun clockwise into the northbound lane before stopping facing north.

Troopers believe that the driver of the Volkswagen was distracted at the time of the accident. Medics treated him for his injuries at the scene, and troopers cited him for failure to control his speed. Ambulances transported the Cadillac's driver and two passengers to Shannon for treatment. Officials say they did not suffer any incapacitating injuries.

When distracted driving causes an accident, it can mean a lot of damage to property and serious injuries to some of the people involved because the driver may not have time to reduce the car's speed before the impact. Being distracted can mean that the driver is at-fault in the accident and may be liable for damages.

Anybody injured in the accident may be able to file a personal injury claim against an allegedly at-fault driver. They could recover compensation for their accident-related medical bills, pain and suffering, and even loss of income if the accident caused them to miss work. Citations and criminal charges do not prove fault in an accident, but a completed police report may name one or multiple drivers as at fault in the accident, which may be used to demonstrate liability in court.
