The identities of two individuals killed in a two-vehicle collision near Georgetown, Texas, have recently been released. A 19-year-old from Washington and a 24-year-old from Mexico were pronounced dead following the major motor vehicle accident on Texas 195.
Investigators with the Georgetown Police Department say the collision occurred at around 9 a.m. on Aug. 9. Reports indicated that an extended cab Ford pickup was heading east on Texas 195 when it ran into the passenger side of a Chevy pickup traveling southbound on Texas 143. The Chevy had allegedly run a red light prior to the collision.
Two of the five individuals in the Ford pickup were ejected from the vehicle. One was pronounced dead at the scene, and the others involved were transported to an area hospital for medical attention. The two passengers in the Chevy pickup sustained injuries, and the driver also died at the scene. Officials said that one person was in critical condition; the rest are believed to be stable with non-life-threatening injuries.
Carrying on with life after a loved one dies in a sudden accident can be difficult. This is especially true when the survivors must pick up the many expenses that go along with emergency medical care and funeral expenses. When the negligence of another driver is believed to be the cause of a deadly accident, the family members of the deceased may receive viable legal recourse when considering a wrongful death claim. An attorney can help by answering questions regarding the legal process and discuss options that may be available to those seeking compensation.
