A car accident that occurred in Texas and involved three vehicles caused the death of a 76-year-old man from Woodville. According to the report, the crash occurred near Colmesneil on July 16.
The Texas Department of Public Safety stated that two pickup trucks were traveling north on a highway. At 1:22 p.m., one of the drivers slowed down in order to turn into a private drive when his truck was struck from behind by the other. The impact caused the first truck to be pushed into the southbound lane where it was struck by an oncoming third pickup truck.
The driver of the truck that was hit died at the scene of the crash as a result of the injuries he suffered. The 42-year-old driver of the pickup in the southbound lane was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries, and the 25-year-old driver involved in the initial impact reportedly did not suffer any injuries. At the time of the report, it was not stated if the authorities were still conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident or if they planned to file charges against the 25-year-old driver.
A driver may cause a car accident by simply failing to pay attention or by traveling too fast for the road conditions. While many accidents cause injuries that are relatively minor, others can result in fatalities. If a family loses a loved one to a careless or negligent driver, they may be able to file a wrongful death claim in order to potentially seek compensation for their loss. For example, they may be able to recover the cost of an autopsy, funeral expenses and lost income in addition to compensation for loss of companionship.
