According to sources, a man died in an accident on June 20 in Texas after he crashed into the drilling rig of a triple axel truck. The accident took place on the Dallas North Tollway near Frankford Road. The Texas Department of Public Safety said that the truck had been pulling a drilling rig when one of the truck’s tires blew out. The driver of the truck was forced to pull into the left lane.
The drilling rig attached to the truck was reported to have shifted, causing it to hang over the northbound lanes of the road where it was hit by a car traveling north. The driver, a 70-year-old man, died at the scene. The collision caused lanes to be shut down on both sides of the tollway.
The truck involved in the accident was owned by the Dallas Foundation Drilling. According to news reports, trucks belonging to the company had been inspected 10 times in the past two years. In nine of those inspections, the trucks were found to have been in violation of trucking regulations, and the violations were serious enough for those vehicles to be taken out of service.
When someone is involved in an accident with a car belonging to a company, an investigation may determine whether the collision was the fault of the driver or if there was a mechanical problem with the vehicle. In certain circumstances, a company may be found liable for a crash if police find evidence that the company did not properly maintain its car or if it was negligent in hiring its driver. In the event a loved one is killed in a crash involving a company car, the family members of the victim may want to speak with an attorney about filing a wrongful death lawsuit against either the driver or the company.
