March for Change occurring in Austin today

On Behalf of | Apr 25, 2014 | Drunk Driving Accidents, Firm News

Drunk driving has a very high human cost. Last year, over 1,000 people lost their lives in alcohol-related accidents in Texas. The problem isn’t limited to Texas; every day, around 28 drunk driving accident fatalities occur nationwide, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates.

Today, an event is being held in Austin which is aimed at shedding light on the issue of drunk driving and remembering those who have had their lives cut short by drunk driving accidents. The organization AAA is behind the event, which is called the March for Change.

The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the area around the Texas State Capitol. In the event, a silent march will be conducted around the capital, after speakers make some remarks regarding the issue of drunk driving.

The amount of death caused by drunk driving is a truly tragic thing, particularly given that such deaths are completely preventable. There is no excuse for drunk driving and one would hope that no Texas driver would ever put their life and the lives of others at risk by engaging in this remarkably dangerous type of behavior.

When a person is killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver, it is important that the drunk driver is held accountable and that the family of the victim receives all compensation they are entitled to (such compensation can be a great help when it comes to addressing the financial implications the death of a loved one can have). Motor vehicle accident attorneys can help families of individuals killed in drunk driving accidents fight for these things.
