Texas woman dies in 4-vehicle crash

A four-vehicle accident that occurred in Denton County on Sept. 8 has resulted in the death of a 50-year-old woman. The accident happened around 6:45 p.m. on State Highway 114 near South County Line Road.

According to a representative for the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 49-year-old Del Valle man was driving a semi-truck west on Highway 114 when an eastbound Freightliner driven by a 60-year-old North Richland Hills man crossed over the centerline and collided with the semi. The Freightliner also collided with a sedan driven by a Rhome woman and a pickup truck. Following the impacts, the Freightliner rolled over on its side, spilling rocks onto the road.

The Rhome woman died at the scene. The Freightliner driver was transported by air to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The driver of the semi-truck and the 41-year-old driver of the pickup truck were examined at the scene and released. State Highway 114 was closed for several hours following the crash for an investigation and clearing of the area.

Truck accidents often lead to those involved suffering serious injuries or death due to the large size and momentum of the vehicles. In situations where a loved one has been lost in a motor vehicle accident that occurred because of the actions of another driver, the family of the decedent might consider filing a wrongful death lawsuit. If the family decides to proceed, the services of an attorney might prove useful in filing the claim and representing the family during proceedings.
