Texas crash leaves 2 dead, 2 injured

A 19-year-old and a 60-year-old man were killed in a multi-car crash that took place on Aug. 19 at 7:45 p.m. in Floyd County on State Highway 207. Police say that the accident occurred when the teen's Silverado rear-ended a truck being driven by a 47-year-old woman while driving north on SH 207. Reports indicate that the teen was driving at a higher rate of speed than the pickup being driven by the woman.

The teen's truck then veered into the southbound lane and hit an SUV being driven by a 60-year-old man. Authorities say that the woman's truck came to rest in a field on the east side of the highway while the SUV came to rest on the west side of the highway. The teen's truck came to rest in the southbound lane of SH 207. Both the teen and the older man were declared dead at the scene of the accident. The woman driving the pickup was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

A 48-year-old man was also injured in the accident and was also taken to University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Police would not immediately say how the accident occurred. There was no word from authorities as to whether speed, alcohol or the use of a cellphone could have possibly led to the accident.

In a case similar to this one, the family of the victim may be able to file a wrongful death suit. A personal injury attorney could help the family pursue such legal action on their behalf. This may make it easier for them to deal with the tragic loss of a loved one while holding the other driver or their estate responsible for the motor vehicle accident.
