Driver killed in Texas truck accident

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the deceased driver of a white pickup truck that was involved in a crash with two semitrucks on July 7 at approximately 4 a.m. They said the 48-year-old man, from Chihuahua, Mexico, was attempting to re-enter the interstate from the right shoulder of Interstate 10 when a yellow semitrailer traveling westbound struck the pickup. The force of the collision caused the pickup to jackknife into the westbound lanes of traffic, where it was then struck by a white semitrailer according to authorities.

According to officials, the driver of the pickup died at the scene of the accident while his 38-year-old passenger was transported via air to the University Medical Center in El Paso. Neither the driver nor his passenger were wearing seat belts. The driver of the yellow semi was transported to Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso. His passenger was in the sleeper area at the time of the collision and was not injured. The San Antonio man who had been driving the white semitrailer was treated for his injuries at University Medical Center.

At the time of the crash, the pickup truck has been towing a trailer full of scrap metal. The accident resulted in the closure of Interstate 10 until July 7 at approximately 1 p.m.

Accidents involving semitrailers occur frequently on roadways and often result in serious injuries or death. These injuries can be traumatic for the families as they struggle to pay for the costs of medical care and endure the financial strain of lost wages. It may be advisable for victims and their families to consult with legal counsel in order to assess their options.
